The 1920 Richard Arnold building remained a prominent structure within the Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District. Savannah College of Art and Design purchased the building to return it to its original use and to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification as a sustainable green building. The meticulous restoration provided 32 classrooms, a studio, faculty offices and a 400-seat performance auditorium, including preservation of painted proscenium murals which were part of the WPA Murals Program. Project received Historic Savannah Foundation Preservation Award and Excellence in Restoration Award from the Georgia Trust.
Since the early 1960’s the firm has restored over 300 historic buildings, earning respect and recognition in all aspects of preservation, rehabilitation, and compatible new construction within historic districts. Professional design awards and awards from The Georgia Trust and The National Trust for Historic Preservation have earned the firm national recognition and credibility.
